ABOUT

With a cast that perfectly combines youthful vigour, superb acting and stylish singing, this season promises to showcase a world class production and extraordinary performances married on the beautiful stage of His Majesty’s Theatre.

Since 1934 the summer opera festival at Glyndebourne in the UK has been celebrated for its productions of Mozart’s operas and none more so than Nicholas Hytner’s production of Così fan tutte. This production travels abroad to close off the WAO 2020 Season and we are proud to present it for you for the first time in Australia.

WASO

*Opera is a global industry with artists travelling constantly for productions and performances. This has all changed in the current COVID-19 environment and our season of Cosi fan tutte has adjusted accordingly. Fortunately, the pool of talent in WA is extraordinary and we are delighted to have a local cast available for WAO’s return to the stage at the home of opera, His Majesty’s Theatre.

His Majesty’s Theatre will be operating under the mandated 2 square metre rule however physical distancing will not be enforced. This means:

    • You could be seated directly next to people from outside your group.
    • There will be several unoccupied seats in every seating level to comply with the capacity limits.
    • There will be a strict limit on the number of audience members allowed in the theatre.

His Majesty’s Theatre and West Australian Opera have COVID-19 Safety Policies in place to maintain your safety at the theatre. These efforts include:

  • The completion of a COVID safety plan.
  • Hand sanitiser stations readily available.
  • Ongoing frequent deep cleaning regimes across all areas of the venue.
  • COVID19 safety trained staff in all areas.
  • Distanced markers for queuing.

A digital programme for Così fan tutte will be available to view for free on the WAO website in advance, so if you’d like to read it before the performance, you’ll be able to do so.

We are taking every measure possible to ensure audience safety, so printed programmes will not be available at the performances.

Please do not attend a live performance if you are unwell. As an interim COVID-19 measure if you are unwell, please contact bookings@waopera.asn.au prior to the performance to discuss your options with us.
